Angelina Rain's Flames of Desire

Today, Angelina Rain is here to talk about Flames of Desire, a short erotic ménage romance treat with one very lucky woman, one house fire, and five hunky firemen. Do I need to say more?

Welcome Angelina! So let's get started... What do you do when you are not writing?
I’m plotting. I have so many book ideas fighting for attention in my brain, what I actually spend a lot more time letting them fight than I do with the actual writing. I also have a little editing job so that occupies a lot of my time.
Do you have a day job as well?
I do. I’m a licensed insurance agent selling home, auto, and commercial policies. This year I plan on getting my life and health license as well.

When did you first start writing and when did you finish your first book?
I’ve been writing since high school. I used to write a lot of poetry back then, and I even won a few awards for that. I wrote a few fictional pieces at school, but I didn’t get serious about it until 2010. My first written project, Rescued Love, took me almost a year to write. It’s currently published with Breathless Press and you could buy it here: http://www.breathlesspress.com/index.php?main_page=product_free_shipping_info&products_id=297
How did you choose the genre you write in?
I have no idea. The idea, the characters, and ect just come to me, and as soon as I sit down to write, I know what genre it will be, what the characters will face, and how it will end.

Where do you get your ideas?
Everywhere! I’m a bucket full of them.

What sparked the idea for your novel?
The idea for Flames of Desire came very easily. I was thinking about how cool it would be to have a fireman in my bed. It spiraled out from there.
What are some of your favorite authors/books?
I LOVE romantic suspense. Give me some Nora Roberts, Sandra Brown, Janet Evanovich, Iris Johanson, and Erica Spindler and I will be a very happy girl.
What was your life like before becoming an author?
I used to have this thing called free time, or me time. When I started writing that just disappeared. I should do an investigation and see where it went.
What advice do you have for someone who would like to become a published author?
Write!
Do you ever experience writer’s block?
ALL. THE. TIME. What helps with that is writing a prompt. That’s what Flames started out as. I prompted myself to write something random, and I though firefighters!
Do you work with an outline, or just write?
What’s an outline? Lol. It depends. Rescued Love was written using an outline, and I’m currently working on a story called Wounded Pride which is also using an outline. Everything else is totally write-as-I-go though.

Can you tell me about your challenges in getting your first book published?
None. It wasn’t a challenge. I got my first offer about 24 hours after I send out the submission. I was new to publishing and the book ended up with a not-so-good publisher who closed down about a month after the book was released.
Yikes. That's no fun.
Have you written a book you love that you have not been able to get published?
Yes. I have a suspense thriller that I started writing like two years ago. Every time I get close to finishing it, I start a massive re-write. It doesn’t fit into any of the e-publishing markets so I will have to go traditional with that one, but it’s only 30K long, and it needs to be at least 80K to get published traditionally. So yeah, another re-write is ahead of me for that book.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on a short witch story.
Will you have a new book coming out soon?
I have a free read coming from Evernight Publishing this March. It’s titled “Bunnies and Batteries” and it’s about a woman who is secretly in love with her next door neighbor but she could never be with him, not after what she did to him in the past. When her neighbor comes to her house, uninvited, while she’s playing with her vibrator, their attraction takes a surprise turn. Is there a chance for a happily ever after for them? Or will her past mistake haunt them forever?
Alright, now on to some fun questions.
Be honest, how often do you wash your hair?
Every other day. I used to wash it daily, but my hair is so dry and frizzy that daily washings make my hair vary static-electric prone. Don’t want it to spontaneously catch fire!
Do you get road rage? What pisses you off the most about other drivers?
ALL. THE. TIME. I hate slow drivers!
Do you go out of your way to kill bugs? Are there any that make you screech and hide?
I hate centipedes. We get them a lot in the summer. I have a mini heart-attack every time I see them.
Which of your characters would you like to meet in person and why?
I would love to have a friend like Issella, the heroine in my unpublished suspense thriller that is probably never going to be published. That heroine is a total kick-ass sarcastic bitch. She has an attitude, a personality from hell, and she’s the kind of woman that a weaker man would be scared of.
